Grand Theft Auto IV has shattered Halo 3's record of being the fastest selling video game according to Guinness World Records. Grand Theft Auto claiming the title as the highest ever entertainment earner within the first 24 hours of release, selling 3.6 million units and generating 310 million dollars in revenue.
This achievement overshadows last years record by Halo 3 which generated 170 million dollars, Spiderman 3's 60 million dollars and the fastest selling book, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows which brought in 220 million dollars.
Rockstar's 4 installment in the Grand Theft Auto series reached the 500 million dollar mark in its first week and has been topping the charts worldwide since its release (April 29th).
